Here is the full press release:

A Banker’s Journey’ Reveals the Man Behind the Mystery of “the Greatest Banker of his Generation.”

Who was Edmond J. Safra?

Never a public person, the man who was called “the greatest banker of his generation” by a World Bank president remained a mystery to many—until now.

“You literally will not be able to put down this book once you start.”

That’s what Sandy Weil, former chief executive and chairman of Citigroup said after reading A Banker’s Journey: How Edmond J. Safra Built a Global Financial Empire.

In this podcast, Sandy Weil discusses the man he knew, with top business writer Daniel Gross, author of the first biography of Edmond Safra.

They are joined by Maurice Levy, chairman of the supervisory board of Publicis Groupe, the world’s third largest communications group. Maurice Levy knew both Edmond Safra and his widow, Lily, who chaired their foundation supporting medical research, education, culture, humanitarian causes, and religion.

The conversation includes exclusive anecdotes from the unprecedented access which Dan Gross had to Edmond Safra’s private archives as well as to the hundreds of prior recorded interviews with people who knew Edmond Safra in his different roles including philanthropist and protector of the international Sephardic diaspora.

The banker and the human, the businessman and the philanthropist, the entrepreneur and a man who was inspired by Jewish tradition and its values of respecting the dignity of each individual. That’s who Edmond Safra was, as Dan Gross puts together all the pieces in the puzzle of a man whose mystery is now solved.

It’s a true ‘tour de force’, in which the author meticulously demonstrates why he says that Edmond J. Safra “was a Rothschild, a Buffett, and a Schindler all rolled into one.”
